Blanket sleepers or sleeper pajamas are
those cuddly warm cover-ups worn over pajamas. They are used in
place of or in addition to blankets. Infant blankets are a necessity
on cooler nights to keep your infant warm. It is usually not
recommended to use a traditional heavy blanket to keep an unattended
baby warm. For the toddler or young child that moves around a lot
during the night a blanket sleeper will ensure that they are warm.
Many older children also enjoy the added warmth and security of a
sleeper pajamas.
Sleeper pajamas are
usually one piece and may be footed or footless. Since it is
classified as sleepwear, in the US blanket sleepers must be flame
resistant. They usually zip or snap down the front. Infant blanket
sleepers will usually also have the zipper or snaps on at least one
leg to facilitate dressing and diaper changes.

I swaddle my 6.5 month old and then put
blankets on...I tried the little baby sleeping bags but he still kicked
the blankets off!
